New settings are a good and scary opportunity to discover yourself in new ways. This week I went to San Francisco with my husband and I realized how intimidated I was to take the risk of the public transit system when I didn't have it all mapped out. I kind of had a peek of what it is like for elderly people who don't want to vary from their routine.  Even though it was fun once I just got out there and hit the streets--- willing to not have it all worked out, did I feel the fear of the unknown loosen its grip.

How many times emotionally do I do the same thing? I won't launch out unless I can see where this risk will take me and if I will be safe making the journey. I guess you just have to head out.

Its like M.L. Haskins said it:
'I said to the man who stood at the gate of the year, "Give me a light that I may tread safely into the unknown." And he replied, "Go out into the darkness and put your hand into the hand of God; for that will be to you better than light and safer than a known way."'
